Green carpet in Jaujac

In September last year, a “green carpet” was rolled out in a small picturesque French town. All in the name of environmental protection.
160 rollers, 3.5 tons of grass – that’s all it took for a group of French artists, Gaëlle Villedary, to create a “green carpet” on the 420 metre route in the village of Jaujac. The composition was named Tapis Rouge – which in French means red carpet. It was created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the “Arts and Nature Trail” programme. Jaujac is known for its nature conservation programs, so the carpet has become a symbol of environmental care.
It is made of natural material and is eternally green. It is a perfect match for the whitish architecture of this town.
