Fruitshaped stops

Not all bus stops have to be the same. Fruit stops in the Japanese city of Konagai are a perfect example. Perhaps one day they will be built in the USA. So far we have to be patient.
But let’s go back to Japan for a while. The bus goes on a juicy route there, where it meets stops in the shape of strawberry, mandarin, watermelon, melon or tomato. In total, 16 of them were created. How was this project born? The inspiration for the creators was the story of Cinderella, where the car turned into a pumpkin – unfortunately, in Japan the pumpkin does not stop, but an ordinary bus. That’s a pity, because it would be a complement to this interesting idea. They were built for the Travel Expo exhibition in 1990. They are supposed to be attractive gates for travelers entering Nagasaki Prefecture, certainly waiting inside a strawberry or a mandarin is much more pleasant than standing in the open air. Functionality and attractiveness in one.
