Free tickets for 30 squats

One of Moscow’s subway stations, Vystavochaya, is equipped with a ticketing machine. However, it is not an ordinary machine – it does not accept any money, and the only way to get a ticket is to make 30 sit-ups. The machine stands out from the “ordinary” ones. To proceed with the “purchase” you have to stand in the designated place and wait until the screen appears on the appropriate sign. From now on, two minutes are counted down for the implementation of the exercises. After such a warm-up you can with a smile on your face and full satisfaction receive a free ticket, and in addition, receive an applause from those standing next to you. Those who avoid physical exercise can buy a ticket in the devices standing next to them for 30 roubles (about USD 2.80).
We wanted to show that the Olympic Games are not only an international competition watched by millions of people on television every two years – says Zhukov, president of the Russian Olympic Committee – it is also about involving all people in the sport lifestyle.
According to the media, the way to get a free ticket has been positively received and is very popular. Everyone – older or younger, fat or skinny – does the sittings. The Committee also prepared a special video for promotion. The device will disappear from the Vystavochaya station by 3 December 2013.
