The rectangular flag consists of five alternately arranged horizontal stripes in two colors – three blue and two white. On the left side there is a triangle which is a Masonic symbol of freedom, equality and brotherhood. In its central part there is a white star borrowed from the flag of Texas to illuminate the road to freedom. The blue stripes are supposed to refer to the old divisions of Cuba into three parts – western, central and eastern. The white color symbolizes the purity of revolutionary aspirations and justice. Some people claim that these two belts are the tracks to freedom.
