Caño Cristales the most beautiful river in the world

For most of the year, the river does not stand out in any particular way. As in any other rock, it is covered with dark green moss. However, there comes a moment when it becomes rainbow-coloured.
This happens in the short period between wet and dry season. Calendar months are from September to November. When the water level is perfect, unique plants and algae develop, giving a show of amazing colours. There are all kinds of yellow, green, blue, red and grey.
Caño Cristales, or the so-called “river of five colours”, is only 100km long and 20m wide. It is located in the Sierra de La Macarena National Park in Colombia. For fear of the negative impact on the flora and fauna of the river area, tourist movements have been impossible for many years. It was not until 2009 that this place was made available to tourists.
