How to prepare your skin for winter
How to prepare your skin for winter?
Low and variable temperatures are not kind to our skin. A cold wind or smoggy air also negatively affects the skin’s condition. However, we can prepare ourselves well for this period. How to take care of our skin before the beginning of winter?
In winter the skin becomes dry, more often it becomes irritated or flaky, it also loses its natural glow. During this period, the skin often turns gray, earthy, effectively giving us years. In order not to lead to this, during frosty days we must take special care of it.
Where to start?
Protection and moisturizing are two basic activities that should be remembered before the final cooling. In winter our skin dries twice as fast as in summer, because the water-lipid coat, which forms a protective barrier of the epidermis, is damaged. That is why it is so important to systematically provide our skin with ingredients lost under the influence of atmospheric factors and staying in heated rooms.
Cosmetics adapted to the season
Hyaluronic acid, urea or wax are moisturizing substances that should be included in the protective cream. At the same time, it is recommended not to use light creams and cosmetics containing alcohol, which can dry out and irritate the skin, and even lead to its cracking. Skin care in winter will also be facilitated by preparations containing vitamin E and A, which will strengthen the protective barrier of the epidermis, moisturize the skin and help in its regeneration.
Before leaving home, it is worth choosing a cream containing oiling ingredients to protect against sunlight. Snow reflects up to 90% of the light reaching the earth’s surface. Lack of adequate protection may lead to sunburn, discoloration or additional drying of the skin.
Protection depending on skin type
Cosmetics should also be adapted to the skin type – dry and sensitive skin is best protected by a thick, oily cream. For mixed or oily skin it is better to use a protective emulsion or a slightly oily cream. On the other hand, capillary skin, especially sensitive to temperature changes, is best protected by a protective cream and cosmetics that contain ingredients that strengthen and seal blood vessels. In this case, creams with the addition of vitamin C are the best choice.
Persistent moisturizing in winter
If you have a problem with regularity, you can benefit from treatments that guarantee long-lasting hydration. It is worth to start them even before winter comes to us for good.
