How to choose a tent

Which tent to choose?
When you go on holiday, you primarily think about staying in a hotel or a rented apartment. However, you can also go camping. It’s a great way to spend your free time: you’re closer to nature when you’re in a tent and you can save a lot of money. However, in order for such a “cloud holiday” to take place in a comfortable environment, it is necessary to purchase the right equipment. Which tent will do the best for you?
A field trip is a great opportunity to get away from everyday life. If you only have the right tent, you can really relax and admire the natural beauty. However, buying a tent is not an easy task – there are so many models available on the market that it is not easy to make a final decision. Above all, however, you should answer the question of how many people will sleep in the tent. It is also important whether the tent will be transported by car or whether it will have to be carried. Not without significance is the destination, because another tent will be useful for a campsite in sunny Italy and another in capricious American mountains. What is it worth knowing about tents in order to choose a good model?
Types of tents
In order to obtain the right tent, it is necessary to find out for what purpose it will be used. Manufacturers offer different types of tents to meet the needs of even the most demanding customers. After all, you sleep in tents not only on a properly prepared camp site, but also in more wild places or even in places with extreme weather conditions. Which tent can be found in the shops?
a) Tourism tents are the best solution for people who like camping or hiking camps. Usually they are slightly larger to accommodate e.g. the whole family.
b)Trekking tents – a perfect choice for further hikes. They are usually quite lightweight and small in size so that they can be easily moved from place to place.
c)Expedition (expedition) tents – these are models for extreme tourism enthusiasts. They can withstand even the most severe weather conditions, e.g. in high mountains.
Tents – what to pay attention to?
A tent is primarily intended as a shelter for the night, but should also protect against wind or rain. Unfortunately, the weather can be different, so it may happen that a few days stay in the tent may turn out to be necessary. Then nobody would like to sit in a wet interior, which from moment to moment would become more and more uncomfortable. What are the issues worth paying attention to when buying a tent?
a) Weight – it is important especially when the tent has to be carried with you or carried, e.g. by bicycle. In such cases, it is better to bet on the lightest models, but you should remember that they are very expensive.
b)Construction – tunnel and dome tents (igloo) are distinguished. The former are more comfortable, spacious, but they are mainly suitable for longer stays in one place. Dome tents are more versatile products, ideal for expeditions and frequent changes of stopping places.
c)Rack – can be made of fiberglass or aluminum. Fiberglass frame is certainly cheaper, but it can also be damaged faster, e.g. cracked. An aluminium frame, although more expensive, is much more durable, lighter and also provides better stability for the tent.
d)Waterproofness – marked in millimetres with a water column. The most popular models are those with water resistance of about 2000 mm water column, but if the tent will be used in the field, where it rains often, even a few days, it is better to buy a tent with water resistance of about 4000 mm water column. Then the tent is completely protected against rain or snow.
e)Additional equipment – in tents such elements as vestibule, windows, pockets or reflectors are very useful.
