Do we heat the living room with a biofireplace

If we dream of spending evenings in the glow of light coming from the fireplace, but we do not have the opportunity to use the traditional solution, it is worth considering the installation of a bio-fireplace. Will this solution allow us to warm up the living room?
Is it worth having a bio-fireplace?
Bio-fireplaces are currently enjoying increasing popularity. They have many advantages, including first of all:
are characterized by a modern design, which works perfectly in the living room,
are easy to use,
do not require time-consuming and complicated installation,
are ecological – we burn them with biofuel, which after burning turns into steam with a low content of carbon dioxide,
they can be mounted anywhere – on the wall, on the floor, in the bedroom, living room or office.
If you decide on a technically advanced device, you also get a fully automated bio-fireplace, which controls the entire combustion process, including its temperature. We, on the other hand, can control it with a remote control and a special panel.
Do we heat up the interior with a bio-fireplace?
Smaller bio-fireplaces mostly play only a decorative role. They do not have enough power to heat the room in which they are located. If, however, we want this device to be a supplement to the heating system, it is worth deciding on a model with better performance parameters.
The most important thing in this case is the power. In the case of high quality bio-fireplaces, it reaches 2-3 kW. It is a value comparable to the popular foul pans and greater than the traditional room radiator. Such devices therefore allow you to easily heat even a large room, such as a living room.
However, a certain limitation in this respect is the capacity of the fuel tank. It is usually 1 litre. So if we set the maximum output, the biofuel will run out quickly and we will have to replenish it. What is more, it should also be borne in mind that most manufacturers recommend filling the tank only halfway, which forces us to increase the frequency of filling the tank with biofuel if we set the highest power.
Which bio-fireplace to choose?
Which bio-fireplace to choose? There are two basic types of bio-fireplace on the market:
Bio-fireplaces mounted on the wall – also known as built-in or hanging fireplaces. When deciding on such a solution, we should first of all pay attention to the fact that their weight should be adjusted to the type of material the wall is made of.
If it is chipboard or plasterboard, for example, it may not be able to bear the weight of a fireplace weighing 20 kilograms. Then you may want to opt for a lighter model or a free-standing fireplace.
Not without significance is also the fire resistance of the wall. Hanging bio-fireplaces on a surface covered with wallpaper is not the best solution, because it can be a fire hazard. Avoid also installing devices near furniture boards, which are also flammable.
free-standing bio-fireplaces – their main advantage is that we can move them freely and change their location depending on our needs. They will work well everywhere, even on the balcony. They do not require additional construction.
Bio-fireplaces are a perfect way to diversify the space in the room. Thanks to modern design they look beautiful in all conditions. However, if we want them to also serve as a supplement to the heating system, we should pay attention not so much to their aesthetic values, but to their power. This is because it determines whether the device will affect the thermal comfort of the interior.
