Custom kitchen for less money

Beautiful and functional kitchen is the goal of each of us. However, in the common consciousness it is associated with high costs, often exceeding our capabilities. We suggest how to efficiently arrange a kitchen to measure, without spending any money.
First of all, the project
Before we start in any way to select equipment or furniture, it is worth taking care of their proper placement. A good design will allow us to ergonomically manage the space in the kitchen, which will be the basis for planning savings. – It is worth remembering about the behaviour of the working triangle, i.e. the cooker, sink and fridge, Häfele furniture hardware specialist. – The arrangement of the working zone in the shape of the letter L will allow to create a comfortable and safe room. – At the stage of interior design, it is worth to determine the maximum available budget and the scope of work that we will be able to do on our own. This will save you money on so-called “labour” charges.
We begin to furnish
The kitchen furnishings make many choices for us. If you want to save as much as possible, it is worth making those that are associated with cheaper, although equally durable materials. Starting from the floor, it is worth considering ceramic tiles or panels, which will be much cheaper than wooden parquet. Thanks to this solution we will save not only on materials, but also on workmanship. The cost of laying tiles is much lower than the cost of making parquet or mosaic. It is also worth mentioning that tiles are much more durable, more resistant to moisture and much easier to keep them clean. Panels also have their supporters in this respect.
Nowadays, this type of surface is produced with a higher degree of resistance to moisture, which makes it a good solution for kitchens and sometimes even bathrooms. However, the disadvantage of the panels is their electrostatic properties. The seemingly trivial problem turns out to be very important because this substrate easily retains dust, so that any kind of dirt is immediately visible. More expensive types of panels are covered with a special coating that prevents this problem. However, it is still worth considering a tile option.
Protect our walls
In the kitchen, which will be used frequently, it is important to remember about proper wall protection. The only sensible solution is latex paint, which can cope with them. It is also necessary to adequately protect those parts of the walls that are most exposed to the effects of dangerous factors for the surface. Currently, a very popular solution is to place ceramic tiles on the most sensitive parts of the wall, instead of on its entire surface. Thanks to this we will save a lot of money and the final result is equally satisfactory. Tiles, however, are not the only solution. Lately, glass above the top has been equally fashionable. They can be transparent, painted or cover a photo. Such a solution fits not only modern but also traditional kitchens. Additionally, they are easy to keep clean, which will be important for every household member. Another option, although a bit more expensive, is brick. Resistant to dirt, looks good and gives the room a rustic atmosphere.
Difficult choice
Our sleep on our eyelids is often spent choosing the right furniture. That’s not right, because you can also save a little in this field. – Nowadays, customers often choose laminated worktops over wooden ones. And this is actually a way to spend less money. In addition, laminate worktops are often very richly decorated and easy to assemble. It is also worth noting that they are fully resistant to household cleaning products. Laminated tops compete with wooden and stone tops. The latter are the most durable, but also much more expensive, requiring proper care and professional assembly with the use of specialist tools. Granite worktops are among the most durable, but their price is about 600USD m2. Slightly cheaper than stone, but more durable than laminate are wooden worktops. Here a lot depends on the type of wood they are made of, but their price ranges from 170 USD for pine wood, through 300 USD for beech to 900 USD for iroko wood countertops. Meanwhile, a laminated top will cost us a maximum of several dozen USD per meter. – While for most elements the price depends more on aesthetics than on the strength of materials, the choice of hardware should not be saved. Otherwise, instead of a kitchen for years, we will get a kitchen for a year.
Saving energy – saving money
When choosing household appliances it is worth to consider what kind of equipment we need. Freestanding equipment is less effective, but much cheaper than the one for building. We should also remember about the energy class. The most economical is A++, this choice will allow us to save a lot of money in the future.
