Nowadays, natural medicine and traditional methods of treatment are back in use. It is possible that soon they will experience even another renaissance. Clean water for centuries has been treated as an antidote to many ailments – our great-grandmothers used sit-down baths to cure many popular diseases of intimate areas. So it is worth to prepare them yourself, when we suffer from itching, burning or pain.
Various therapeutic baths with the addition of herbs are one of the most popular and oldest methods of hydrotherapy. Apart from the above mentioned ailments, it can also fight other infections of intimate places, such as bladder inflammation or anal varicose veins. Such baths are recommended for women after traditional childbirth, as well as in case of mechanical damage to the epidermis or mucous membranes.
Such a sitting bath is usually performed in a sitting position. Immerse the body so that the water covers our buttocks and hips. To avoid hypothermia, it is not necessary to take off all clothes – the upper part of the body can remain covered, of course. After all, the activity does not have to take place in a bathtub – if you have a shower cubicle, you can do the whole process in a pelvis or a month with water.
To prepare such a sitting bath, it is enough to fill the bathtub with warm, but not hot water, then add a herbal infusion and various salts or other medicinal products. The recommended water temperature is about 37˚C. The most effective pro-health effect is shown by regular sit-down baths lasting at least 20 minutes. After drying your body with a towel, it is best to wrap it tightly or immediately put it to bed to keep it warm.
Depending on the type of ailment, various herbal additives are recommended for such a bath. For example, a herb such as chamomile has anti-inflammatory, relaxing and antiseptic properties, so it can be consumed in the treatment of various inflammations and hemorrhoids. However, the infusion from the oak bark may affect the sealing of blood vessels, it also has a disinfectant and anti-inflammatory effect. Therefore, it is recommended to people suffering from anal varicose veins, among others. A sit-down bath with nettle will help inflammation of the urinary tract and accelerate wound healing. However, before you decide on a 20-minute healing bath, remember that it is not recommended for pregnant women and those during menstruation, as well as for allergy sufferers. So if you are in a blessed state, unfortunately, it is better not to take such baths. This could harm our child.
Sit-on baths are baths that only cover the lower part of the body up to the level of the navel and the upper part of the thighs excluding other parts. Such baths are best performed in bathtubs of special shapes, with appropriate backrests for hands and back. Such a bath may of course also be performed in a regular bath tub, but only on condition that the feet of the bathing person are supported by the upper edge of the tub or by a stool placed in the tub, which allows only the upper parts of the thighs to be submerged in the water. In this case, the sitting bath patient may only expose the lower part of the body, while the upper part may be dressed. Then, after immersing the lower body in water, the whole body and the bath tub are covered with a blanket to avoid rapid cooling. Thanks to frequent use of such baths you can just get rid of hemorrhoids and other unpleasant disorders of the urinary tract. Therefore, it is always worth trying natural methods before you try chemical medicaments from the pharmacy.
